Grieving

The weekend was rough for our new ward.  A 15-year-old girl in our ward ended her life.  She was not currently active, so I didn't know her, but all the kids that were already in this ward before we came knew her.  Her family used to be active.  Young Women's was a mess on Sunday.  We had to practice a song they will be singing at her funeral this week and everyone was bawling.  It was so sad.  Such a tough thing.

Happy Birthday?

Friday was Clint's birthday, but it was the lamest birthday ever.  We did nothing to celebrate.  He had to go to a dr. appt, Carson went to watch an invitational track meet and got home late.  I worked until 7.  Everything he wants I cannot pick out for him, so not even any presents!  We did go out to dinner finally on Saturday and then had cake on Sunday.  I know he says it doesn't matter, but I feel like we should have made a bigger deal out of it.  We will for sure next year...he'll be the big 5-0!

Track is back!

Green Canyon had their first regular track meet on Wednesday and it was freezing!  Carson did decent, but still easing back into it after being sick.

I took this goofy picture of him sitting in the bleachers.  😀

Waiting for the 1600 to start...

His flowing locks.  haha

Another busy week!!

Monday morning Carson and I went over to the school at 5:30 am to hang up his posters for the exec elections.

We hung it up with some working Christmas lights around it.

Check out this cute picture we added to the poster.

Thankfully Carson was feeling a little better and went to school all week, but he still seemed a little low on energy and has a crazy cough so he didn't go to track all week.  I'm kind of sad that he's not getting a great start with track.  Hopefully it doesn't discourage him too much.

This is how tired Carson was most of the week....we tried to get him to play a game with us, but we ended up drawing his cards and moving his pieces for him.  hahaha

Tuesday I went over to my sister, Emily's, and helped her clean and pack so they could move on Saturday. They bought some farmland in Montana!  We'll miss having her close by.

For our young women's activity the Beehives went to the temple.  We had a great time!

Late Tuesday night we got a knock on the front door . . .

He got asked to Spring Fling!!

Wednesday was the exec assembly where they showed their videos and answered a random meaningless question. haha.  Carson did a great job.  Here is his campaign video....

Katelyn had Friday off of school for her one day spring break!  She came home Thursday night and we were excited to have her home!  I set up a snowshoeing adventure for her and I Friday morning.  We went with a friend of mine, LuWana Hunt, and a group of her friends on a trail up Logan Canyon (east of Beaver).  Such a gorgeous day.
 It was really fun!

We BARELY made it back in time to run to the exec installation assembly where we would find out if Carson made it.  He did not. :(  I was so bummed for him I almost cried.  It was close, but he didn't make it.

We went to do baptisms for the dead as a family on Saturday.  It was so cool.  Carson got to baptize Katelyn and Griffin!  It was really neat.  Then we got pizza and a movie and hung out.  It was good.

Clint had some guys from the ward over for March Madness so we ate good food and hung out Friday night.

Katelyn and Griffin built a leprechaun trap, so Saturday morning I put some little green footprints around and left some gold coins for them. haha  Never too old for a little fun!

What a week!

Last week was quite the week! Carson got sick on Tuesday.  He came home from track practice and slept most of the rest of the day.  He HAD to go to school on Wednesday because he had to do his skit for exec tryouts.  He is campaigning for student body secretary for next year.

An introduction of the candidates . . .

Carson's skit . . .

They also had an inter-squad track meet after school on Wednesday.   Check out that pile of snow!  Don't let that kid in the tank top and shorts fool you.  It was FREEZING out!

Carson was not doing well the rest of the week and over the weekend which was not good because he made it through to the next round on exec (yay!) which meant he had to finish up all of his stuff for exec elections.  He had to do a video and 3 posters.  I had to drag him off the couch several times so he would go work on stuff.  Deep down he knew he would regret it if he didn't do it, but he just didn't feel like it!  In the end, he got it done and his posters and video look great!

I ended up doing the paper route every morning once Carson got sick.  That meant I had to get up at 4:30 every morning because I'm slower than him and didn't have anyone helping me.  I'm hoping he'll be ready to get back at it soon.

The Silver Bullet

Carson named the van the silver bullet.  His friend made him the sticker. haha

A little bit about Carson

It was a super busy week for Carson.  He usually gets to come home and sleep for an hour or so after his paper route, before he has to get ready for school, but he had a before school meeting for exec tryouts one day and then had to go in early to rearrange his schedule another day so he wasn't able to on Thursday and Friday.  Then Saturday he couldn't sleep in after his route because there was a Priest/Laurel retreat that morning.  Sunday was rough too because right after the route he had to go to a 7 am priesthood leadership meeting for stake conference.  He was a trooper!  Good attitude about it all (not saying he stayed awake through everything, but he was there ðŸ˜‚).  So impressed with the young man he is.  He did finally get a 4 or 5 hour nap Sunday afternoon so hopefully he's all caught up on sleep again.  Exec preliminaries are later this week and final campaigns are next week.  I hope he makes it!  I think he has a good shot.

It's been a "ball"

Griffin had his last basketball game of the season.  They didn't have a winning season, but he enjoyed playing.
