Painting in Pocatello

Not the funnest thing to do over Christmas break, but necessary!  We spent the day in Pocatello getting the 3rd room painted and put together for the guys that will be moving in in January.

I really liked how it looked with the grey paint.

Trail running with the girls: Jardine Juniper

I didn't think we'd make it up this trail again until late spring, but we decided to give it a try!  It was actually well traveled and packed down pretty good for the first while.  Once the ascent started, though, the trail was not nearly as good.  We made it to the top, but decided not to drop down into the tree this time.  We saw a moose!

Christmas 2018

I love Christmas morning.  The lights from the tree, family gathered around, the fun of giving and receiving gifts!  It's all so magical.

We wrapped Ethan's skis, even though we'd actually bought them in Nov and he has used them several times. haha

Now that the kids are at the age that they don't get toys to play with all day, we decided some activities to fill the rest of the day were in order.  Ethan and Carson went skiing and the rest of us went sledding at Old Main Hill on campus.  The snow was a little spotty, but the sledding was still fun!

To finish off the night, we drove to Salt Lake City to see that lights at temple square.  It has been quite a few years since we've done it.  So pretty!

Christmas Eve Traditions

Although we still give this tradition an effort, it's never quite a top notch performance with these older kids. haha  At least they still humor me.  Acting out the nativity:

We are not the most musically talented, but Ethan (guitar), Griffin (piano), and Katelyn (ukulele) played Silent Night for us. (password: fieldfam)

We finished up the evening with sibling gifts, then it's slumber party time while they wait for Christmas morning to arrive!

Trail running with the girls: Christmas Sock run!

Melanie and Becky have had a tradition that I got to join them for this year....a Christmas Sock run on the morning of Christmas Eve!  Katelyn was home for the break so she came with us.   We went up Smithfield Canyon, but on a new trail out the back of the campground.  We lost the trail/flags part way in so had to find a log to cross the river back over the the canyon road.  It was a beautiful snowy morning.  Crazy, but lots of fun!!

The annual Nog Jog

I don't know why these guys do it, but every year they meet up on the track in December for the Nog Jog--drink a cup of egg nog, run a lap, repeat until you puke.  This year Carson got out of running some how and was taking pics and video.  I'll spare you the video...because the ultimate goal was to film them puking.  so gross.  Here's some of the gang a few laps in.

Ethan Fullmer, Benson handing out egg nog, Jackson Hancey, and Branson Sharp

White Elephant

We had a white elephant gift exchange at our youth group activity.  The gifts were fantastic. Carson definitely ended up with one of the most interesting.

This one handed bald angel/cupid came with a note that required us to regift him at the next white elephant.  haha

Gingerbread Houses at Grandma's

We love the tradition of going to Grandma and Grandpa's every year to make gingerbread houses. Always so much fun.
