Logan Peak

We all got back from camp on Friday.  The boys had to leave camp a day early because Carson was running in the Logan Peak Ultra Marathon Saturday morning.  It is a 26+ mile trail race with over 6600 feet of elevation gain to Logan Peak and back!  I was a little nervous letting him do it so young.  Ethan didn't do it until the summer after his senior year and Carson had just finished his Sophomore year.

Because of all the snow we had this winter, there was still a lot of snow on the trail, so originally they were going to shorten the race and remove the last rise to the peak.  In the end, they left the peak run as an option for those that wanted to, but there would be NO aid station as the snow made it impossible to get supplies up there.  That made me nervous too, but we made sure he packed plenty of water and food and knew where the natural springs were at so he could refill his water.

I took Carson to Hyrum Gibbons Mt. Logan Park at 5:30 am Saturday morning to check in.

He found a couple of his buddies that were running as well and soon they were off!

I headed back home for a few hours and then we went to the park around 10:30 am to wait for him to come in.  It is hard to predict how long it will take.

Carson did AMAZING!  He was the youngest runner, at age 15.  He came in 25th out of 120 people.  The race took him 5 hours and 33:58 minutes!  That takes some guts.  So proud of him (and relieved to see him coming in to finish)!

I got a shot of his friends as they were coming in as well.
