This is the best face he would give me at 5:45 am haha
Starting line instructions....
#511 on the right is Carson's cross country coach, Jared Storrs. He runs it every year.
Clint headed up to the base of the Peak to see Carson at the aid station there (Clint can ride his motorcycle up to that point).
Last year Carson finished in 5 hrs 30 min and was hoping to do a little better this year, so Griffin and I made our way over to the park a little before 11 am. The report from Clint up the mountain was that Carson wasn't doing very well. He had been cramping and was going slower than he wanted. Griffin had an ultimate game at 11:30, so we had to leave before Carson came in.
Fortunately, Clint got back down off the mountain and to the park in time to see Carson finish.
Headed into the park for the home stretch.
He finished in just over 6 hours. Not what he was hoping for, but he made it! Maybe next year he'll take my advice and train a little for this 28 mile race with over 7,000 feet of elevation gain. Still, impressive just to do it. Wow!
