Griffin's Eagle Project

Every year in North Logan the community puts on the "Pumpkin Walk."  It is a free event and requires a LOT of volunteers to pull it off.  For Griffin's Eagle project, he contacted the event organizers to sign up to help out for his Eagle project.  The assignment they gave him was to put up the cornstalk fence that serves as a barrier and a backdrop for some of the scenes for the event.  This involved putting up the barbwire fence, getting a crew together to cut down and haul the cornstalks to the park, and coordinating another crew to tie the cornstalk bundles to the fence.

The day before installation, we went over and got the barbwire fence set up.  Griffin's friend Matthias came to help as well as Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Bruce.

We asked Aunt Sherry for her sugar cookie recipe to make treats for all our helpers, but she did us one better and made the cookies for us!  So delicious and so cute.

The next morning we met at the corn field and spent a couple of hours cutting down cornstalks, loading them onto trailers, and hauling them to the Elk Ridge Park.  We didn't get any pics at the corn field....we were too busy working.

We had a bunch of ward members and Griffin's friends show up at the corn field and the park.  So grateful to them.  They all jumped in and took on different jobs to get it done....cutting twine, tying twine to the fence, sorting corn stalks, and tying the bundles to the fence.

The finished fence looked so great!  Griffin and I came back the next day to haul off all the unused cornstalks.  We may have been a little overzealous cutting at the field, but in our defense it is a little hard to judge how much we would need having never done it before!  We appreciated all the help from our ward!  Now he just had to finish up take down after the pumpkin walk and his project would be complete!
