I had always said I would NEVER run a marathon. Well... when you run with friends that run marathons, you just might end up running one some day! Today was the day for me. I had been running part of Melanie's long runs with her and she convinced me I could do it. I was super nervous, but decided if I was ever going to, this was definitely the year.
Then, after hurting my foot in July, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to prepare well enough. The longest run I was able to get in was an 18 miler. Ready or not, it was time to show up! Melanie and I met at the park in St. George early Saturday morning and rode the bus together to the starting line. It was cold and had been so rainy, so we came prepared for rain, but luckily we stayed dry.

I was happy with my race! I never really felt like I hit a wall, so that was amazing! I was able to run the whole thing except for a little bit of the uphill section near mile 7. It was amazing how all the spectators cheered for you...even though they didn't know you. It really helped me push on. It even made me a little emotional at one point. We had been running a stretch with very few spectators and then came upon a group that were cheering and encouraging everyone. It was so awesome. It was definitely hard, but I am glad that I did it.
That is AMAZING!
