We wasted no time leaving town after Carson's graduation. The very next morning the boys and I hit the road for the Daniels family reunion that Kent and Kelsey were hosting in Claremont, California!! Katelyn was in Arizona working and Clint had a conference in Nebraska at Boys Town so neither of them were able to come with us. Carson had gone to the all-night graduation party so he was out cold for a while. He and Ethan drove us all the way to Cali! (and home) I was just chillin in the back seat with Griffin.
The scenery on the drive was lovely, except for the truck that had rolled. Scary!
We stayed in an awesome rental house with part of the family and a few people stayed at Kent and Kelsey's house nearby. The rental had a decked out backyard with all kinds of games like corn hole, ping pong, a basketball court and a pool and hot tub!
Our first outing on Saturday was a marine wildlife tour at the Ocean Institute. We learned all kinds of interesting things and saw seals and dolphins among other things.
The rest of the afternoon was spent at the beach! We all enjoyed hanging out in the warm sand watching the kids play, throwing the frisbee, and even venturing into the water a bit. Emmi was so cute with the little kids and they were all holding hands and jumping the wave as they crashed onto the beach. Kent even got turned into a mermaid sand sculpture. :)
Always have to get pictures with the girls...
Ethan and Carson tried their hand at surfing and even had a little success. It looked like so much work but they stuck with it, especially Ethan! Griffin enjoyed the boogie board and catching waves near the beach.

Sunday we went to the local ward for church and then returned for an afternoon of fun competitions. Kent and Kelsey had created a pentathlon that we all participated in. The events were hula-hooping, shooting a basketball, interpretive ju jitsu, water balloon toss, and riding an inflatable flamingo in the pool while others tried to shake you off. Mom, Kent, and Kelsey were the judges and the families teamed up against each other.

The competition was fierce!
Elizabeth's family won the competition! And Keeley even let Carson try out one of the prizes...a remote control unicorn. haha
Then just more hanging out and games with everyone. It was a nice relaxing time with family.
Which eventually ended up with us talking about eating bread in milk with salt and pepper on it for dinner at times when we were too poor to have any other food in the house. The kids were appalled, so we decided to recreate it and make them try it. They thought it was so gross.
To be fair, it wasn't as good as I had remembered it being.
The next morning we said our goodbyes and hit the road back home.
We stopped at the store for some road trip snacks. Ethan thought a ham was a good idea. haha
We made it home safe and sound. Another successful family reunion full of fun and making memories.
