Eagle Scout in the House! and more....

Griffin is officially done with everything for his Eagle Scout rank!!  It all came together super fast.....on Tuesday he received his final merit badges at the court of honor then right after he had his scout master conference for the Eagle Rank.  Everyone signed his Eagle paper work and on Wednesday we took it down to have it approved by the scout office.  That was quick and easy so when we got home he called about setting up his board of review and it turned out they were doing a BUNCH as a stake the very next night!  So Thursday night he had his board of review, passed that, and Friday after school we turned all of his paperwork in!  So it's official!  Yay!  Glad that is done and that he made it before the end of 2019 when the church no longer uses the scouting program.

In the midst of all that, on Thursday night I drove to Pocatello and helped Ethan pack up his room, and stuffed a bunch of it in the van (we got the left rear tire fixed that was dented....but for some reason now the van has a completely flat right rear tire....weird).  I only had like an hour in Pocatello, but we got most of it done and I got home just in time to take Griffin to his board of review.  Ethan is super excited about his future at Utah State, but in ways not really that excited to be back home.  He has changed a lot since high school and being back just kind of reminds him of how things used to be and I think it's kind of hard at times.  He'll be alright though.  I know he'll figure it out.  He got home and threw ALL the stuff.....duffle bags, backpacks, suitcases, garbage bags....all over the floor in his room and proceeded to live that way until yesterday when I finally helped him get it all organized and put away.  The room looks good now thankfully!  Hopefully it will stay that way for a while. :)  So, just when we thought we were down to one child, we're back at two!

I went hiking on the Crimson trail with Becky and Melanie on Friday.  It was decent weather but we have had some warmish temperatures so the trail conditions were not great.  Frozen/icy snow in places.  Uneven surface.  But it was still fun.

One nice thing about having Ethan home is he can help out with haircuts!  He got pretty good at cutting hair on his mission so we recruited him to cut Clint's hair this week.

This was the weekend we were taking the youth to see the lights at temple square.  Clint and the teachers (Griffin's age group) turned it in to a weekend excursion!  So fun for them!  They left Friday afternoon to go to the Jazz game, stayed up (almost) all night in the hotel playing xbox, met the rest of the youth group at temple square for about 10 minutes (ok, maybe 15) and then bailed to go watch the USU v BYU game at vivint arena.

The girls + the only priest to come, Zach Ottley, (poor Zach) finished looking at lights and then went to dinner at chuck-o-rama before heading back to the valley.  It was fun!  We did something new while we were on temple square that I've never done before...we went into the tabernacle for a little bit.  They have a bunch of guest choirs come and perform every night from high schools around Utah.  It was really cool!

Sunday was supposed to be just another regular day, but Clint and I woke up to messages on our phones from Grandpa Field.....first message....he couldn't find grandma, next message....they were at the hospital!  We hurried to the hospital and found out that he had found her outside her back door on her patio almost frozen to death!  It was only in the teens outside and we have no idea how long she was out there, but her temperature had gotten down below 77 which is crazy low and she was unresponsive although she still had a pulse and was breathing.  She was lucky to live through it.  She said she couldn't remember how she got out there....everyone was speculating that she had a moment of dementia.  That's a little scary.  It has all been rough on grandpa....finding her almost frozen to death, having to drag her back into her apartment, calling 911 and waiting for the emergency personnel to arrive.  She is stable now, but is still in the hospital.  We are hoping she will be released tomorrow, but we will likely be moving her to an assisted living facility so she can have more help and more supervision.

Monday I paid a visit to my friend Sue Ann's mom, Ellen Earley, for her 12 days of Christmas visitors gift.  They are in our ward.  I took her lunch and we ate and visited for a bit.  It was fun! She is the sweetest.
