Trail running with the girls: Preston Valley to Wind Caves

Yay for another trail adventure!  Becky couldn't come with us today, but Melanie and I tried out a trail we have never been on before but I've heard a lot about.  The Preston Valley Trail Head is about half way up Green Canyon.  The trail has a pretty good incline to it but we managed to do some running on it.

When you get to the top you can head east...back in further along the ridge line to Berdineau Peak, west...out the peak toward the valley and saddleback mountain (the reflectors) where you can descend to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, or head south...down the other side of the mountain approaching the Wind Caves from the top, rather than the bottom.  We opted for the south route to the wind caves.

The early morning sun in the mountains.  Nothing better....

Great view of the "china wall" .... a limestone wall along the mountain side up Logan Canyon

Gorgeous wildflowers....

The Wind Caves

11 miles up and over the ridge to the wind caves and back again!  My quads are sore, but it was fun!

the GPS was a little messed up on the way back....the first half and last half should be mirror images of each other
